Add a New Flavor to All Your Recipes with a Texas Navel Orange

oranges20.jpgOld foods and old flavors can become boring very easily. When you have been using the same recipe all the time, your family and friends will become tired of eating those dishes and delicacies you prepare. That doesn't mean you have to resort to completely new recipes; dress up the ones you already have. For instance, add some navel orange juice to your pot roast in order to give it a different flavor. You want to pierce the meat before you poor the navel orange juice into the pot so that the flavor will be able to permeate throughout the meat.

When you prepare a citrus or garden salad you can add some navel orange slices or peel to the rest of the ingredients. This is a great choice to make if you are serving a salad that includes meat such as chicken Caesar or chef's salad. That doesn't mean you should include it in other salads as well; a navel orange will add a different flavor to any salad, whether fruit, vegetable or a combination of both. The idea is to take an old recipe and give it some pizzazz, and you can do that easily with navel orange meat, juice or peel.

Why would you want to change a recipe you have used for many years and about which no one has complained? One of the reasons you may do this is because you want to try something that is out of the ordinary, something you have never done in the past. You want to keep your recipes exciting, and you can only do that if you do something different once in a while. One of the easiest things to choose for different flavor is some kind of orange flavoring: navel orange juice or peel is a great selection.

In order to add something different to a fruit or salad dish you can add some sprigs of navel orange peel. While some guests may not wish to eat the navel orange peel, it will certainly give the dish an attractive appearance. Sometimes your guests will not be as concerned about flavor as they are about appearance; if they see something that looks different, they are more inclined to try it just because it is new. The same holds true for your family–they will become bored of your cooking if you serve the same dishes the same way all the time.
