For people who only need to lose a few pounds that they put on during the holidays staying on the Grapefruit Diet for two weeks as recommended is the perfect way to cleanse your body and get back on a healthy diet while losing those extra pounds.

But, it only works if you stay on the diet for the entire two weeks, which can be very difficult. Dieting is hard under the best circumstances, but sticking to a diet after a month of eating rich foods and drinking calorie filled sweet drinks like eggnog and hot chocolate during the holidays can be even tougher. Weigh yourself – Obsessing about your weight is bad, but weighing yourself regularly while on the Grapefruit Diet is a great way to stay motivated. When you see yourself losing weight on a steady basis you will be able to fight off those cravings for sweets and unhealthy foods so that you can continue to lose weight. Success is the best motivator, so weigh yourself once a day.

Wear clothes that didn't fit before – Nothing beats the feeling of fitting back into clothes that didn't after your holiday excesses. Put on your old clothes that are starting to fit again and wear them all day so that they can remind you how much better you look now that you're on the Grapefruit Diet.
