grapefruit5.jpgNot only does grapefruit grow in Texas, but the Texas way of cooking and eating can provide endless new ways to eat grapefruit. You may already incorporate grapefruit into your daily diet, but doing so can become very boring. But these ways to eat grapefruit Texas style can change all that, and make eating this citrus wonder fun again.

Almost all Texans love to barbecue and grill meat. But they also love to experiment with the grill. This includes grilling non traditional items such as fish and other seafood, vegetables and even fruit. Grilled citrus is yet another way to eat grapefruit that perhaps you hadn't thought of before now. There are several ways you can do this. First, thinly slice the grapefruit with the peel still on and grill. Not only will the grill marks make for a lovely presentation on the grapefruit, but a new way to eat grapefruit would include eating it straight from the grill.

Another new way to eat grapefruit Texas style would be to add some sugar and let it caramelize on the grill on top of the grapefruit. This makes for a crunchy slice of grapefruit, and a taste you might never expect from this tart citrus produce. Try adding it to fruit salad for some crunchy, smoky goodness that you can't get from most fruits you will find in that salad.

Speaking of the grill, you can also grill grapefruit juice. No, you can't put a bottle of grapefruit juice on the grill, but another new way to eat grapefruit would include using some of the juice in a marinade. Adding grapefruit juice to a chicken or beef marinade, then slapping them on the grill or slowly barbecuing them is a great way to get the health benefits of grapefruit while not actually eating the fruit itself. Shrimp and veggies with a marinade are even more ways to eat grapefruit Texas style.

Dessert pizzas are all the rage lately, and so is grilling pizza. Yes, you heard that right -grilling pizza can be a new way to eat grapefruit that you probably have never heard of. Just take a premade crust for pizza and throw on any fruity toppings you desire, including grapefruit and grill. Everything takes on a smoky smell and taste that goes well with sweet foods.

Of course, the new ways to eat grapefruit Texas style don't have to stop here. Add some grilled grapefruit to your iced tea instead of lemons. Or get creative and think of your own new ways to eat grapefruit. It doesn't even have to be Texas style, it can be any way that you can think of.
