Honeybell season is all too short, so enjoy it while you can, whether it’s Pittman & Davis classic Honeybells or Pittman & Davis Golden Honeybells!

Never had a Honeybell orange before? You’re missing out – known for their bell shapes and honey-sweet flavor, the mandarin hybrid is a refreshing treat eaten fresh out of hand, segmented into salads, or used in your favorite recipes (like cocktails)!

Speaking of cocktails, our Golden Honeybells are perfect in a margarita – combined with smooth silver tequila and tart lime juice, the fresh, sweet juice makes a nice complement. Round out your next taco or chili night with the tropical-tasting recipe featuring the juice from a Golden Honeybell below and prepare to add wow factor to a winter night!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Pittman & Davis Honeybell
  • 2 limes
  • 3 Tbsp. silver tequila
  • 2 Tbsp. orange liqueur
  • 2 Tbsp. lime juice
  • 3 Tbsp. simple syrup
  • ½ c. sugar
  • ½ c. water
  • Coarse sea salt

Directions:

  1. Make the simple syrup: bring sugar and water to a boil in a small saucepan until sugar dissolves. Turn off heat and allow to cool completely. (Excess can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a month.)
  2. Prepare the fruit: cut the Honeybell in half. Juice one half of the Honeybell and cut the remaining half into wedges. Juice one of the limes and cut the remaining lime into wedges.
  3. Prepare the glass: rub the edge of a margarita glass with one lime wedge, then dip in salt. Fill with ice.
  4. In a cocktail shaker, combine 4 tablespoons of Honeybell juice, orange liqueur, juice of one lime (about 2 tablespoons), and 1½ tablespoons of simple syrup with ice; shake about 30 seconds.
  5. Pour over ice and garnish with slices of lime and Honeybell.
